(November 28, 1914-June 23, 1988) Born Samuel Lucius Gandy in Anderson, South Carolina. Educated at Howard and University of Chicago. Served as director of religious activities at Virginia State College for 11 years, and later as Dean of Lawless Memorial Chapel at Dillard University. Edited Human Possibilities: A Vernon Johns Reader (1977). Died in Washington, D.C.
